Got two problems with my N95 8gb. One of the speakers was crackling when the ringtone played or i played any music. Took it to the Carphone Warehouse an had it repaired under warranty - Great! The other problem is the front fascia is loose from the front of the phone. The Carphone Warehouse told me that this is the result of the phone being dropped and is damaged. They won't repair this under the warranty. What i want to know is if anyone knows where i can purchase a genuine replacement housing or a decent replacement housing?
Not sure about how I feel about this one... I've been repairing phones for a chain of shops for about 5 years now as a part-time hobby (and to have a break from my mon-fri job)
While I've only had a handful of N95's come in for repair, I find it difficult to be able to tell if a phone has been dropped - especially that one.
I suppose without having a proper look at it, it is difficult to see how much of a wobble there really is but generally, unless the housing has physical signs of damage, its not easy to tell whether a customer has dropped it or whether its bad design
You may want to try another CPW or another repair place to see what they think (obviously not telling them you've already been to see another and what their verdict was).
Failing that, it is not that difficult to change the housing - I did my first complete change last sunday and it took no more than 15 mins for two phones.
To buy a housing, have you tried ebay? We get our stuff from their mainly an obviously only going for genuine ones too.
there are no signs of damage at all on the outside of the phone, but they didn't take that long to tell me it had been dropped. The actual housing is loose from the main body but also the front slider ha the usual wobble.

nice find there... might be useful for repairs I do too... Sometimes its annoying to find people sell complete housings when all you want is the front, top or slider for instance

Well, my phone is in the carphone warehouse being repaired again. It has the same problem with the speaker. They've had it since Thursday. They told me they had to order parts and i will get it back on Monday(today). So i went back and they said they were still waiting for the parts to come.
I asked how much longer it would take and the guy dissappeared for a while, then came back and said 'actually it will probably be ready about 4pm tomorrow' The customer service i have received in that shop is disgraceful. They also told me to ring to find out if it was done but i could not get through all day. Today, i was told to ring again tomorrow. But i said you do not answer your phone. The guy replied by saying 'we will try to answer the phone as much as we can!
Hopefull i should get it back tomorrow, if they answer their phone!
Ive been in CPW many times where the guys are serving away and the phones are ringing constantly..
leave the customer standing or answer the phone? You leave the phone cause they cant see you! (Unless you are calling from your mobile standing in the store!) *yes I have done that*
They should just get some young'un who's obsessed with phones to answer the phone and take that call...
