E90 firmware confusion

Searching the internet and here I see lots of references to the latest firmware being 7.40.1.2. People say they have it. But how? NSU tells me the latest is 07.24.0.3 which is on my phone.
Does anyone know where you find a version of NSU with the 7.40 firmware?

That topic as been covered many times here. In short: you probably own an E90 branded by an operator.

You will only see the latest firmware if the operator has released their branded version.

You can change the product code of your phone, possible at the cost of your warranty, and get a more recent, generic firmware. Search around.

Thanks,
Have spent 3 days in phone calls with O2 (half from them to me). They have been very helpful.
The O2 answer is:
The 7.40 firmware has bugs, therefore they will not authorise it.
Bizarre solution from them is to put someone elses sim card in, eg orange or vodaphone and do the upgrade that way. They did warn me this would invalidate the warranty though.

I guess that the real reason is: we couldn't be arsed to test it.

I've had firmware version 7.40 on my O2 E90 for more 2 months now and haven't had any problems.

And without this firmware, the built-in GPS is almost worthless as it takes ages to get a lock as opposed to just a few seconds with AGPS, which has been introduced only in version 7.40.

Hi jonmcg

Just putting another Networks Sim card in will not help you at all and will make no difference. As far as i am aware and it seems many others there are no new bugs in 7.40 either, if you really want the latest firmware your only option is to debrand your devcie by using Nemesis to change the product code to a generic one and the you will be able to get the latest firmware. There are guides on the forum on how to change the product code it really is very quick and simple and the you can just use the Nokia update service to get the new firmware. My E90 was originally from 02 and is now debranded running the latest firmware with no problems at all.

You need probably to update Nokia Software Update itself first (current version has an installer version tag "2.0.14.0" and the application version is "01.04.023.31036"😉. And yes, the current E90 firmware version is 7.40.1.2.
