Finally decided to upgrade to 4.39 since I had been on 3.12.
So far absolutely no noticeable differences, except for the memory bug of course, and now I have a silly "About" icon that tells me that the phone is running Symbian operating system..and can't seem to remove it.
I could be wrong, but the phone might be a bit faster overall.
2 of my Java apps no longer work after the upgrade, but might be fine once I uninstalll and re-install.
Otherwise everythings seems ok, but SA fw of 4.39 does not have any new pallette colours without installing software to enable it.
Well,this is nothing new.
You can remove the icon with a hard reset.
The phone is faster,the red color palette comes wiht vodafone life branded firmwares only.
If you want them on your phone get palette extender.
I have heard that in 4.39 the java heap memory size has been reduced wich means that java applications can't allocate as much memory as before and this can lead to problems with larger games or applications.
The person telling med this works at a company developing java and at his work has testet about 50 java games on the 7650 and claimed that about 20 of the games failed on the new firmware 😞
i haven't been able to verify this but he claims he read about the reduced heap size on a forum, if this really is true then i'm seriously reconsidering upgrading my phone for now :-?

You might be right,few weeks ago i installed a java game,size arround 600-700K(Can't remember the name right now).I had a lot of free space and the game refused to start and exited with an error message concerning memory,low memory or something.
i have asked the guy what forum this was posted on so perhaps i can give a link later on..
Anyone noticed that you cannot open new messages with the joystick on v4.39? You can only open messages with the left soft key. Or is it just my phones problem? :roll:

Well,in v 4.39 you cant.
I didn't know that you could open new messages with the joystick in prior firmware releases,i allways used the left soft key.

You can open your new incoming message with the joystick. I've kinda gottan used to using the joystick so i'm trying to adjust to this situation. Just upgraded my phone to v4.39.
