so check for updates if you have any other product code
i thought they was upto somthing as the firmware check was out of order this morning for maitainence
hopfully branded firmware as become available for other networks too
let us know
vodafone uk N95 8GB v15 update out today
that's a bugger as I recently de-branded and installed that version. Do you think it' worth swapping the product code back and updating?

it depends if you think it's not gonna make too much of a difference to what you use on the phone then might aswell have the correct firmware
i gonna wait for my phone to charge then see if it'll let me update using software manager
b/c i only done the check where you type in product code on nokia site
i could'nt believe it had v15 b/c i been checking every day lol
EDIT; just updated everything worked perfect
when updating i never back up my phone b/c when installing back to my phone memory i get lots of problems with expired certificates and things which cause alot of glitch's
so if any1 is updating inh my experience it's best reinstall everything from scratch
Well, my camera's not working properly. I'd rather return the phone to Vodafone's settings so I can get it checked out.
I didn't check the camera before updating the firmware, so I'm not sure if that's what screwed it up?
vodafone update is good everying worked fine.
if your having problems it's best to change back to branded b/c they might not repair it if it needs to go to shop
About time; any noticeable changes from v11?

not realy apart from watching video's in browser and thats a pain to use when trying to watch videos from certain sites
I've upgraded to this but I've lost the "vodafone search" application which I liked. Does anyone have any ideas on how I can get it, or an equivalent back?
It searched the entire phone on the possible T9 combinations and also the numerical string when I entered a string of keys on my phone...

i never had vodafone search on the v11 firmware so i think they axed it a while back
It was on there via a blue tooth message. Not having upgraded firmware before, I didn't realise all the messages contacts etc would go...
Maybe they'll be able to restore it if I go in to a vodfone store.... unless anyone has any other ideas?

Sorry mate, they won't. Unless you have that data backed up somewhere then it's gone for good :hmpf:

hes talking about a application supplied by the network lol
his last reply was'nt that clear so it's easy to think hes talking about restoring everything he lost, like photos and videos
but he only wants them to reinstall a service supplied by the network

my battery also seems to of lasted alot longer i usualy have to charge everyday when i'm using the browser alot but i hav'nt had too today
rather the browser is less energy sapping or the phone as a whole uses less power, dont know maybe some1 as officiol upgrade list
Does this update bring the Vodafone version up to date with the latest generic firmware? If I update this, will I keep the Spiderman film? My phone is as new, with nothing currently stored on it, so to keep the film should I back up first or just do the update?
Jay, arent you in Barca??
From memory in the other posts, its a case of backing it up. Not on voda tho so Id wait for confirmation

every body i know including myself lost the key which allows you to play the spiderman movie,so if you upgrade make sure u back the key up which allows the movie to be played
without it the movie does'nt play

I was in Barcelona yesterday, back today.

I assume this is achieved by a standard backup and restore?
i did a standard back up and restore using my pc and still lost the key
so it might be best you copy the phone memory to the memory card
see what others say about it all 1st

Enjoy it? Any good? (back on topic after this, promise)
Yeah, there was some nice kit. Too many people though, on the Nokia stand for example, you couldn't move, it was literally packed with people. I'd already seen the new NSeries phones at the Press event on Monday so that made life a bit easier.
Getting back on topic, I will try the back up phone memory to internal memory rather than backing up to PC suite later. I'm glad the Voda version is out, saves the hassle of changing product codes and debranding.
Well, I backed up, upgraded my firmware, restored, and it failed, so no spiderman film. Now, I'm not that bothered overall, as I didn't buy the handset for that specific item, but it is a great way of showing off the phone's video capabilities. It does seem a bit off that upgrading firmware disables the product key for the video file. I don't get that, at all.
So, as that didn't work, I de-branded, too. Those Vodafone icons are so colourless and boring!
Jay, Kontraband linked me to this thread;
http://www.allaboutsymbian.com/forum//forum/thread/67526/
Which contains a post in reference to obtaining a new activation code from Nokia themselves.
I'm at work so I've not debranded or upgraded the phone yet so I can't tell if it works for definite but it's got to be worth a crack.
Thanks, I'll give that a try
hey folks,
I took a back up of my phone before I upgraded. So will I get the search application back if I do that?
I figured if I did that it would revert to the old firmware:redface:
I haven't got anything on my phone yet that I want to keep so when I am back from my girlfriends for the long valentine's weekend 😉 I'll give it a go...?
So does it restore programmes but not firmware? Bit confused as I thought it would restore everything!

you'll get everything back if you made backup or copied to memory card it does'nt restore the old firmware just the data saved on it
so yes you'll only get the apps, games ect not the old firmware when u restore
