Ebay Application on branded vodafone...

Mornin Everyone

Before I debranded my N95 8GB from Vodafone and upgraded the firmware, I used to have a ebay application. In the vanillla image from Nokia it is missing.

How do I get the application without blowing the firmware away and rebranding it? (Yes I know that Voda have just released the new firmware, but I'd rather not start again unless I really really have to!)

Searching for ebay and sis and n95 doesn't give me any positive results.

Cheers David

its not in download vodafone preinstall it
i have Ebay APP stored on my PC if you want me to send it you pm me your email address and ill sdend it u

Ive not seen it in Download! either... but thats because Im a t-mob user.

The ebay application is only available preinstalled or on Vodafone Live! so I guess debranding it means your not going to get it, unless you can still go thru vodafone live! and download it again??

yep its actualy branded to vodafone it as there logos on the app when its open
its a freeware not sure if it'll work on other phones but you can choose wlan connection so it might

Do you think vodafone have exclusive usage rights and they are planning to charge other networks for it b/c it's strange how it is on no site or no other network for download
if its the case then i think sharing it in the forum will be a rule breaker
so until i get confirmation from Kontraband i'm not sharing in public

well, its exclusive to Vodafone, but I just read this;

'The application will launch in Italy initially, then be rolled out over Europe. It will be exclusive everywhere in Europe, with the exception of the UK.'

The fact you can only get onto vodafone live as a vodafone customer though suggests that they wouldnt want the file sharing. There are some vodafone agents that post here, so might see if they pick this up to tell us more... maybe if I say the word vodafone enough it will set off alarms at vodafone HQ and a vodafone rep will come on, search for vodafone, and find this heavily vodafone orientated post. 😉

Ive also just found this which seems to have worked in so much as no error kicked up, but I havent recieved the SMS yet.

I would imagine that there is at the very least a check to see whether the number is a vodaphone one before the sms is sent. (I tried it with an old vodaphone number that has since been ported out and .... no sms.)

yes, I agree. Sometimes the verification is done at confirm, whereas on this link thats clearly not the case. Still no sms so I guess its just not coming..

I've found an easier way - just go to the ebay site and download it there. 😊

I was going to look at that but I cant get on the ebay site??

And anyway wheres the fun in getting it off the ebay site.. 😉

lol as with many things mobile related
the easy option what nobody thinks will work is usually the best and only option

hahah, I did 'think' about it... just couldnt check it due to no ebay (and still no ebay... best go see whats going on)

The link is http://pages.ebay.co.uk/mobile/downloads/ - that's to obvious for me..

Glad you found it ok. Must admit, it's a nice little app. Not going to have it running all the time but for the odd item I like to keep an eye on, this will prove useful. Thanks for the initial heads up, as I didn't even know about it until I started looking for it for you. 😊
