Hi Not sure if this has already been covered but its really annoying me,

even though my girlfriends number is in my phone, when she txt me it just shows her number and not her name, its not doing it with anyone else who has txt me, is this something a firmware update will reslove as i only got the handset this morning, im with 3 UK by the way, please help its doing me head in =(😡

I think you just have to put up with it. Many people have complained about this and other shortcomings of S60. Unfortunately, instead of sorting them out, the S60 developers are FARTING AROUND WITH A TOUCH UI THAT NOBODY WANTS.

in the call settings theres a (send my caller id) option.settings>phone>call

if she as it off then her number nor her name will only show up i think

not all phones have the option to set this

i'm working on the presumption she as a nokia phone

make sure your settings are correct too

theres 3 options off ,on ,set by network off will hide all

If you copy all your contacts to your sim directory the problem should resolve itself - contacts > options > copy > to sim directory.

Hope it works!

Copying everything to your SIM isn't a good idea though - you'll find your names get truncated, and it can only stores phone number/name pairs, not the whole range of information that could be stored normally.

Also the SIM has a very limited amount of storage space, generally enough for about 300 contacts on newer cards, older ones will store less.

I agree with kontraband. It's bound to be a duplicated number somewhere... as in, you have your girlfriend's number down on two contacts.

This happened when my mum got a new 6300 (Bless her, she loves it :redface😊. Whenever I called her just my number would appear. It turned out that she had my number on my own contact, and on another contact named "Emergency #4".

If you've done something like this, I advise removing the Emergency contacts and instead making an Emergency numbers contact group instead.

Hope this helps.

Wow, bitter AND uninformed 😊

It is most likely a duplicate, I also had this when I lived at home the landline number was listed under Home and also under Mum.
Check anywhere else you might have your girlfriends number

I've just had an idea.

If you can't find it elsewhere, try adding an extra digit to the end of the number under your intended contact for your girlfriend, and then have her call your phone. If the number is only in one other contact then the phone will show the name for that other contact.

You can then go to it and change/delete it at your convenience. 😊
