I get my n95 8gb next week i want to get some sat nav software, what is generally regarded as the best (not including tom tom because i cant be bothered to buy the bluetooth thingy)
Sygic
Route 66
Garmin xt
i will have an internet package so that is not a problem. also i would like a full 7 digit postcode search and i think there is a patch for sygic for this. Also would like to have voice turn by turn.
Thanks in advance!!!
Jacob
Garmin.
Route66 - crap routing and instructions
Sygic - apperently even worse routing, and very bad instructions.
If Garmin's so good, why can't they guide Middlesbrough from the lower half of the premiership?
Anyway yeah I've only heard good things about Garmin. I'm in two minds whether to wait for TomTom7 or buy a 3-year license on Nokia's own Maps app.
Note: if you didn't know, they sponsor Boro.

I actually find Nokia maps to work well. I have got whole of europe on my phone and fair enough i have paid for the key which wasnt cheap but Ive got full europe sat nav for next 3 years..
Anyone tried CoPilot 7 Mobile?
At least you should be able to download the cam database onto CoPilot.

I have Sygic working on My N95 and its tops.
I have the latest speed cameras on it too and its never let me down.
I have tried Route66 and did not like it.
I tried Garmin XT andit was ok but the instructions were always given at the last min so got to be a pain in the arse esp when going into a city Like Leeds.

How do you find the routing on Sygic? I liked the look of it, but it got some iffy reviews about its routing capabilities.
Do you get the speed cams from PGPSW?

I am running garmin XT and it doesn't have full postcode search available
Are you sure it does full post code?
Is this full postcode facility in the Map or the Software?
I've got the "evaluation" version,
Tried Route 66 but the routing was terrible, and also the postcodes were way out sometimes.
When i find a sat nav product that works like my tom tom go, i'll buy it!
Just about every thread on GPS ends up with someone saying Garmin is slow to provide voice prompts - I live in Asia, parts of the city I regularly drive in rate as some of the most densely populated areas on the planet, streets every hundred meters or so, lanes, alleys, pathways, it's like a chaotic web of interconnected roads that stretch on for 30 kilometers in every direction. Keeping this in mind, I NEVER have problems with Garmin being slow to do anything. Never. It routes absolutely fine, if I need to make a series of left right turns it reads them out long before I have to make them. Usually between 2 and 400 meters early.
This is not to say you don't have problems, just that I find it strange that you would. I have everything set to max detail, thousands upon thousands of points of interest, building names, street names, stores, hospitals, police stations, the lot. The only time it screws up, which is not often, is when there are road works, a street might be blocked off temporarily or what ever, not the fault of Garmin at all.
Maybe you have some other applications running in the background while you navigate, I have no idea, just that I never have problems with it being slow.
EDIT: Disclaimer. I don't often use the Garmin provided maps, so maybe this is why. A lot of the maps I use are either self made, built by enthusiasts, or created based on government data. I find these to be better than those offered commercially, though mostly this is because there are not many companies providing maps for the country I live in.

Hi mate
I think the routing is good. I have used all the programs i mention and find this as good as any.
I have created and attached a file with the latest speed camera files plus images and sound files needed and instructions..
Have a go with it I was impressed.

but its not letting me
where did you get this from?
Hoping you clever people can help me.
I have just got the N95 8GB and one of the main reasons I got it was to use sat nav. I read up on the phone & various sat nav options first and garmin came up tops. I ordered Garmin Xt mobile as it said it was compatible with the n95.
It comes on an SD card and I then discovered my n95 8gb phone doesn't have an SD slot !!
Does anyone know how I could get the gramin software on the N95 8GB?
Is there a better sat nav software option for this phone ?
Thanks for your help
Ruth
you have to use the crack to get it on the 9GB internal memory. i cant talk about it here, but its possible for sure. just use google. since you paid for the app, i dont see anything wrong with using this method to use it on your phone.
