I've read a few posts about this, however, I would like to recount my story...
So, last night, after a very long day at the office off I went to the pub for a beer. Having arrived very late all my mates were drunk and leaving so there I was, sober as a judge (pun intended), having a pint and going through my contacts list - the size at that stage was 250k. Seeing that I had a whole lot of numbers of people I couldn't remember and women that wouldn't sleep with me anymore I got onto a delete mission.
After deleting adout 50 or so contacts, my contact list had grown in size to about 370k...
This morning I performed a back-up, deleted all my contacts, restarted the phone, restored the contacts only and now the size is 323k!
This is all very interesting...

Give it a couple of days, the list *should* clean itself up at some point and shrink down
I guess I'll wait and see what happens... 😛opcorn:
The contacts database only gets compressed occasionally. You can force a compress by running the NameSwap utility twice (so the names are back to their original state).
Yes, good idea that.
The double name swap does reduce size (my file size dropped from 135kb to 116kb) BUT!!
I got an error half way thru the second name-swap and the name swap app closed - half was changed back, the other half was left back to front. So, I've just spent an hour clicking through the contacts and putting them right. The good news is that the ones I needed to change were all together at the end, not randomly distributed.
So unless you have a big problem with the file size/available memory, I wouldn't bother
Paul
And today it's suddenly down to 122k...
