Most Wanted for the P800 (and Symbian)

After spending way too much time today, this evening, late tonight fooling around with my new toy... uh, crucial business tool, I'm still impressed beyond belief (though the bluetooth issues are really bothering me).

But... 😉

There are things I'd like to see improved, and software (and hardware) introduced:

Software:
- word processing app - something like Documents2Go or QuickOffice (which kicks butt), with some of the bells and whistles (ie, dictionary, thesaurus, no lost formatting, fonts, etc)

- Of course, it's cool to play games on the machine, but for me, I want productivity apps - how about a powerpoint player! Something that, thru bluetooth, I can actually broadcast to a bluetooth enabled miniDV cam or projector.

- video conferencing feature via GPRS. Come on... it's doable. All the hard stuff is done!

- Project planning software, compatible with MS project

- Usenet reader! Yeah baybee, I can't get enough of alt.coffee!

- A better browser with tighter tie in to video streaming and audio streaming. There's some 12kbit and 16kbit radio out there that I could be listening to.

- A better MP3 player / WMA player with equalizer, and visualizer.

P800's Software

- Good, not great yet. There's a lot of bugs in things - for instance, everytime I sync, MS Outlook's Tasks get doubled. Then they get doubled, etc etc.

- Visualizer for MP3 playing.

- Some things are way too buried. For instance, there's too many different ways to adjust volume. There should be one central spot for ALL volume control, then a quick volume set with the jog dial.

- landcape mode.

Well, there's more here, but I will wait a few more days for P800 improvements

Hardware:

A bluetooth enabled wireless keyboard! OR a plug in keyboard that lets you use the product in landscape or portrait mode.

128mb Memory (crap) sticks for this (crap) proprietary external memory. Sigh, I know it's sony, but they should have done SD.

A good holster.

A heavier pen.

And there's more, but I'm running too long in this post. What's your wishlist?

The Citrix Client
A decent VPN client

That's about it! 😊

All you need to do that is a .TIF viewer and use Fax-2-Email :P
