Nokia Maps2

just been reading about it at beta labs site.

I have nokia maps 1 and have paid for a 3 year subscription for navigation.
If i upgrade will my subscription carry forward?

Also it says it offers traffic (TMC) which is good but it says it also operates for pedestrians. I thought nokia maps one has an option for pedestrians too, so whats the differnece?

Liam

Those are two very good questions and I'd like to know the answer to them as well. I'm considering just paying for a year or so for nokia maps to work to it's fullest.

I have a 3 year licence for Nokia maps. I upgraded to Nokia maps V2 and the licence carried over to the new version. The phone will connect to the internet and ask for your licence key number you got when you purchased navigation.
You may want to hold off upgrading until the final version is released as the Beta is a bit buggy at the moment.

The walking mode in nokia maps 2 doesn't have voice instructions unlike driving mode. It also uses "breadcrumbs" to show you your route which disappear as you follow the route. Walking mode also uses the most direct route unlike driving which has to follow one way roads and other restrictions.

Hope this helps

Im stuck with being unable to do a full postcode search at the moment.

Im online, settings are set to online, which definatly works as thats how it determined I get a 3 day trial, but every search I do just brings back postcode sector (about 3 digits/letters).

To search by postcode Im going to:

Options - search - addresses - and putting a postcode in.

Ive tried postcodes separated and together, i.e. gl88sl and gl8 8sl.

All return a single result with only a town, basically. i.e. gl8

Tried it both 'searching online' and 'searching offline'.

And I know the postcodes work, because they did on the old version of maps.

So...what am I doing wrong?

Cheers auntiewiv - I may pay for the full thing. Not sure whether to get 3 years or just 1 year, because knowing me I'll prolly have a new phone by then.

There's something... if I paid for 3 years, then say a year later I upgrade to another nokia phone that has nokia maps on it... theoretically, would I be able to put in my old license key number and have it work on that instead (and of course it'd stop on the old phone)?

this postcode issue. Is it because people are not downoading maps using map loader instead using their internet connection as the go?

I downloaded my maps using the loader, so its not that. Besides, that shouldnt make a difference, because either way you have to go online to get the full postcode, which is a stupid method of doing it.

?

I don't go online at all using maps and mine works fine, including full postcode search. This must be it then..

Eh? Im sure you have to go online to get the full postcode (not just partial).

Does anyone know if this has changed?

Btw, I tried being offline and searching, its still only partial postcode.

promise you. I have mine set to not go online, i can search full postcode with no problems. I have western europe preloaded and full 3 year licence
