UIQ owned by Symbian

Now this is something I did not realise and I apologise if I'm stating the obvious. 'UIQ Technology AB' the developers of the P800 interface is owned by Symbian! Check out their website http://www.symbian.com/about/contacts/contact-swed.html. I always thought that it was an independent company that were working mainly with (or even part owned by) SonyEricsson.

This of course gives Symbian more incentive to push UIQ than series 60, although I'm sure they're very happy to see series 60 devices doing well. This makes it even better for Symbian that BenQ have decided to develop their Smartphone using the UIQ interface http://www.symbian.com/press-office/2003/pr030130.html. Now will Motorola ever come up with a firm announcement about the Paragon II?
