Having used my E90 for the last few weeks , I was getting more and more frustrated with the connection speeds - I was getting between 70 & 120kbps, even with the 3.5G indicator showing full signal
I have been putting this down to T-mobile , and cursing there poor network for weeks , then , yesterday , I decided to use my HTC Advantage for a change , lo and behold , I suddenly have 1.2mbps of HSDPA !
This surprised me ... so I switched back to the E90 , and straight back to 71kbps :con?
I then tried a few combinations of Phones and SIM's and it certainly seems that the E90 is the problem
I have tried a factory reset , made sure that "High speed packet access" is enabled etc , I simply cannot understand what is going on !
Any ideas ?
E90 - HSDPA / 3G speeds

I have noticed a marked speed depreciation since i swapped my faulty n95 8gb for an e90. Its not as poor as your results, but disappointing nonetheless. I notice for example that when using emtube i sometimes have to wait for the video to buffer past 70percent before the stream starts to play. On the n95 and n95 8gb it usually started at about 8 or 10 percent. I also frequently lose my signal entirely or randomly switch to gprs for no apparent reason when browsing.. Im hoping a firmware upgrade will fix these problems and also add flash lite 3 and demand paging to the pot. For the money this handset costs i think it is a travesty that it wasnt the chosen handset for triaalling flashlite 3, particularly given its browser-oriented design. Still thats another story
Check Tools->Settings->Connections->Packet Data and make sure that "High Speed Packet Access" is enabled.
I often get 1200 - 1800 Kbit/s when close to the tower on my E90.

I'd like to join to bodstrup's comment,
I have the same good results here in hungary even with bad signal.
Cheers,
I have HSDPA activated, and all of the settings are as they were on the n95.this leads me to presume that it cannot be a network issue and might be firmware related. Im using the unbranded euro mocha firmware.

For some reason i cant find this on my E90. I have:
Packet data connection: When needed
Access Point: None
Strange, do you have a branded version ? mine is using the generic 7.40.1.2 firmware.
Regards, Michael
unbranded running 7.40.1.12

Yes , this is enabled
The plot thickens !
I have just tried the SIM from my 3 USB modem in the e90 , and HSDPA works fine ! So it appears to be a compatibility issue with the T-mobile SIM (a sim which happens to work fine in any other HSDPA device ! )
But even that doesn't make sense - surely the SIM's involvement will either let it connect or it won't - I can see how a faulty SIM would prevent me from connecting to the HSDPA network altogether - but not how it could let me connect to HSDPA and give me poor speeds ?
This really is Bizzare - put the sim in any other device and I get 1.4mbps !
