I Bet This Is Probably Easy To Answer Yet I Cannot Find A Definitive One :(

Hi All.

I'll try and keep it as short sharp and simple as I can, otherwise I end up confusing myself !!

Currently I can connect to my N958GB via USB Cable and get 800k down.

Via Bluetooth it is a paltry and horrible 100k 😞

But as you can guess that sitting on a train and having to pull out a cable or a bluetooth dongle and plug it in isn't ideal

So is there anyway that I can ..................

Connect my wifi enabled laptop to my N958GB via wifi and then use the N95 as a modem to use the internet via gprs (all via wifi !!!) therefore enabling me to surf the internet on my laptop via the n95's gprs

????

I seriously cannot find a definitive answer anywhere 😞

Your help, as always is much appreciated !!!

Many thanks

Shelly

Short answer = No
Long answer, your phone won't connect via wifi and packet at the same time so your only option if you want to use the phone as a modem is bluetooth or cable.

So 3shirts, you are saying that if you are browsing the internet via WLAN, you cannot receive a text message? Of course it can.

You can connect your laptop to your phone via WIFI and use GPRS through the phone (phone is the modem) to connect to the internet.

You cannot connect your laptop through your phone and use the phones WIFI, if you could, then why not just connect the laptop to the wifi hotspot lol.

Check out the post mentioned above, it should help you out.

Maybe this is what you're looking for...

It's an app that turns your phone into a wireless hotspot. It connects to the internet using it's GPRS, and you can connect to it with your laptop using a wifi connection. I downloaded it just yesterday just in case I might need it.

I haven't actually tried it yet though so I couldn't comment on how reliable or secure it is.

So will there be any charges if i do this and connect my laptop to the wireless connection from the N95?

Sorry bud. I followed your link again and it seems appropriate. The first time I clicked it, it came up with something completely different and I thought "that's not right" so I posted that link instead. Can't remember the thread it opened tho. Should've checked twice

It depends on your wireless services plan.

Keep in mind that now you will be connecting your laptop to your phone and using the phones GPRS or 3g connection to acces the internet. If you have an unlimited data plan through your wireless service provider, than you'll only pay whatever it is that plan costs and you won't be paying per kb or mb.

If you do not have an unlimited data plan for your phone, than I suggest you either get one or stay away from using this method as you will incure data charges per kb or mb used.
