bluetooth in the car and no sat nav sounds

I have a bluetooth car stereo which is paired to my N95-1. This works great - any calls go through the stereo and gives me true hands free.

However, I wanted to use my sat nav last night (tried Sygic and Garmon XT) but never got a single voice prompt either through the phone or the stereo. Is it something I did wrong or is this a limitation of the phone?

May be a limitation of the stereo.
Certainly with a cable connection, the stereo should mute everything for a call or a SatNav command.
If the stereo takes TV-out, it would be worth hooking the phone up to see whether it behaves as it (the stereo) should.

Have you payed for the premium service upgrade for the nokia maps software? That is how you get voice guidance on your nokia maps software.

Two things to check: is the volume in the satnav software set loud enough? Also some satnav software has an option called Hands-Free Invoke which sometimes you have to switch on for it to send the instructions via bluetooth.
