Since the Nokia N95 (as well as N95 8gb, N82 etc) has a tv-out feature (up to 640x480, am I right?) I'm trying to encode video with that resolution for the best TV experience.
Unfortunately Realplayer doesn't play 640x480 avc videos and Coreplayer stutters (a lot). However mobile-recorded videos already are 640x480 (gspot says it's mp4 but not H264).
So I'm looking for the best solution to view my videos on a TV (320x240 videos on TV already look better than I thought but why can't I use full resolution tv-out?)
Anyone tried a similar approach?
You will have to go down the MP4 route for anything higher than 320x240. Couldnt get H264 at 640x480 either. Using Super and videora.
If you're using the TV-out on your N95, would it be beneficial to use a video res of 640x480? The TV output is the same resolution as the phone - 320x240 or 240x320, depending on whether the phone is in landscape or portrait mode.
I'm pretty sure that the tv-output is up to 640x480.
Crispyduck: did you try to encode to mp4 640? Is the difference noticeable on tv? Settings? Thanks

Why would it be 640x480 if that't neither PAL's nor NTSC's resolution?🙄
And it does! The difference is very clear when you view best quality video shot on the N95 via TV out.
I'm using MediaCoder to resize DVDs to 480x272 for TV output, this works well with Coreplayer with no stutter (Format is xvid, container is MP4, bitrate 800kbps. Audio is HE-AAC V2 at 32kbps) as suggested somewhere else on this forum.
