SmartAnswer: Beep while recording question

Hi guyz,

A small question, i love the smartanswer app but there is 1 thing i really find anoying.

When someone calls your number and smartanswer picks up the cal, your caller hears a BEEP sound every few seconds while he is talking.
Does everybody has this?
My friends sometimes get confused and think the time is up or they started to early..etc..

Any solutions,tips,or just feedback are more then welcome!

What version r u using? Because I don't hear nothing. I use v1.03.

Sorry, but this is Nokia requirement and specific. We could try to get rid of it, but I'm not sure it'd be legal. The caller must know he's being recorded and these periodic beeps indicate that.

Wow, is this beep a standard or something?

IWhen I used recorder of Ericsson R320S or the recorder of 9110, or even sound recorder of 9210, AI do not hear a sound.

Why you must do this app with beeps?

FBI, CIA and other, do not provide beeps eigther :angel:

Thnx for your quick reply!
good to hear it is not only my version wich has that. Do you really think nokia would care about that?? here in holland none of the voicemailservices (from the providers) has beeps.
I think when you state in your record message that this is your voicemail..leave a message blabla.. the warning of being recorded is already loud and clear. right?

Anyway, thnx for the great app, and i hope that beep can be removed in some next version 😉

Let me clarify. We don't add these beeps! These beeps are added automatically by phone while recording with active phone line.

I'm not legal expert and have no idea why Nokia has done it but i'm sure they have many legal experts 😊

Moreover i've heard that some 7650s, 9210s doesn't have such beeps while recording, so i can suppose that the presence of these beeps can be depended on laws in your country (where did you purchase your device). Just guess only.

I purchased my phone in holland.
It comes from vodafone. firmware V 4.36

I hoped it was possible to remove the beeps with a fix, but after your comment this seems to be not possible. :S

Update:

I tried a trial version of "AnsweringMachine" and it has the same beep in the message!!!! aargh.

yes, of course. as hera and zeus mentioned here, several time, it wasnt symbianware who made that (beeping sound) in the first place, it's default to the phone. 😃
