Garmin mobile xt Speed Camera warnings

Well to check the cameras simply in map mode scroll to the location of a camera known to you and zoom in. They only appear once you have zoomed in. and for the other part Garmin will automatically warn you as long as you have the setting turned on. --> settings --> proximity points.

Or simply drive past a speed and see if works. It works perfectly for me and has done from installation.

My only problem is trying to find up-todate POI's. As speed cameras are forever popping up in London. I normally get mine from a free websites where all the information about POI is slowlly accumulated. The only problem with this is they are often out of date.
Where did you get your POI set from?? and do you know if i can create my own POI's

If I've installed them correctly, would I be able to check in either the 'Map Sets' menu or the 'Custom POI' menu or something?

Unfortunatley that is all i did and it works. I am still trying to get my head around these poi's and mapsets as this satnav thingy is a real first for me.
It took me forever to figure out how to put the maps on the bloody thing.

When you say you have install the poi correctly, did you use garmins poi installer? If so you shouldnt have to change any of the settings. I got the lastest database from pocketgps.com and then used garmin poi installer and it worked fine.

When a camera approaches, i can see a pic of a speed camera and the top bar lights up red with a beeping sound and speed limit.

i got speed cameras and rel light camera alerts by using the garmin POI installer. and i just googled for free poi websites, downloaded a free database poi file, and garmin poi installer did the rest. works great, but only when i have a route planned and i am approaching a rel light with camera.

i have the garmin xt mobile on my n95 8 gig. i installed both standard red/speed cam poi in it and also the advanced. i was able to load the standard maps through the poi loader but the advanved maps must be installed manually. all that ment was to extract files to hdd. then copy that over into the POI folder on ur garmin device. if that folder doesnt exist then just simply create it and away u go.

Guys i don't know someone can help me but i have two issue..

1) First time when i installed Garmin XT mobile the background was blue.. then after 1day it changed to white background...

2) I always get message Searching satellite... sometime i have to wait 5minute before getting signal.. is that normal???

you have it on auto mode, which turns the screen from day to night mode when its day and night.

you need to enable AGPS, which uses small amount of data, but gives oyu a lock in about 15 seconds.

Is there an easy way to change the sound that plays without having to re-install the POI's and without using the Garmin POI loader?

I used the MapSource app to add the POI's...

This is getting ridiculous... If I install the Speed camera database using the MapSource app using the GDB file, the POI's work, but with an inaudible sound.

When I try using Garmins POI loader pointing to this folder:

...it tells me that 10,000 odd POI's have been successfully installed, but I SEE NOTHING.

What am I doing wrong??

If you have installed them properly you can see them - select WHERE TO - scroll to EXTRAS - CUSTOM POIs - the list is there - It shows POIs near your current position so get a satellite fix first so GMXT knows where you are. If you're in London it won't show POIs in Australia for eg.

I'd also like to know how to change the alert sound - it is very soft at the moment

I have the POI's now, but the sound I chose and installed is being ignored.

I guess this will have to do.

I have Garmin working on my N97 but cannot get the cutom POI's inculding speed camera to be seen.

I have downloaded from Pocket gps and used Garmin POI installer to move them to phone. It says 11376 points have been loaded. If I look on the memory card in the POI folder I have a new file called poi.GPI.

In Garmin I go to custom POI and it says there are none and to visit Garin web site.

Is this an N97 problem as many seem to have this wrking OK.😡
