I have just sold my N95 classic and am about to buy an 8gb model. Naturally living in Jordan i don't have operator problems, therefore the phone will be clean. My question is what firmware am I looking for and what will be the improvements (if any) Also I would like to change the language pack from Arabic to Euro 1, is this practical?
I have backed up all my contacts, messages, memory card etc via the PC suite. Can i just transfer it over to the 8gb without any problems? or will I have hassle?
All help greatly appreciated
Chris
Firstly you need to ascertain what firmware (software) is running on your 8GB.
You do this by typing *#0000# in from the standby screen. You should get something like this:-
V 15.0.015
11-12-07
RM-320
Nokia N95 (01.01)
The first line is the firmware version. V 15 is the latest generic version for Euro1 phones.
You will first of all need to change your product code if you want to change from Arabic to English. This is explained here:-

Then you will need the Euro1 product code from here:-

The Euro1 code is 0549487
You will then need to download and install the Nokia Software Updater (NSU) from Nokia and install it on your PC. Details are here:-

You will then be able to do a restore from the backup of your previous N95 but DO NOT restore the settings.
Hope this helps. 😊
