Ringtones problem

Hi i have issue with the ringtones... recently i uploaded some mp3's on my phone.. on profile i select one of my mp3's as Ringtone but sometime when i receive a call it play the Nokia Default ringtone...

Oof! I haven't had this happen to me since my 9110i. I used to take WAV files and use them as truetone ringtones on my communicator, at least a couple of years before most people realised it was possible 🙄 Unfortunately WAV files can be very big if you want them to be a decent quality, and the phone didn't support MP3. This resulted in my phone just ringing with the standard nokia ringtone from time to time, because sometimes it couldn't open the file fast enough I think.

Are the MP3s you using for ringtones pretty large? If so, try reducing them a bit. My tip is if you're gonna use a song as a ringtone, find the bit of the song you want to use, and trim it down to the max length of time that your phone rings when it's called (15, 20, 30 secs or so). That way you're not wasting any space, the phone can open the smaller file quicker than before, and you're less likely to get the Nokia ringtone pop up.

I did this with my Have I Got News For You, Qi, Red Dwarf, Monty Python, Top Gear and Family Guy ringtones. 😉

Thx for your post.. the mp3 that i use for ringtone is about 4mb.. maybe that's why sometime it doesn't work.. i will modify the mp3 to get only the first 45sec to see if it will fix the issue...

thx again..

Hmm actually I would've thought 4Mb would've been ok. I was thinking more along the lines of 20Mb or more or thereabouts.

Nonetheless, if it fixes the problem then thats whats important. Plus I believe it's good practice as well.

I've got the CTU rington from 24 on my phone in MP3 format, it's about 46kb and sometimes I get the Nokia default ringtone. I'm wondering if it has anything to do with installing Handy Profiles as it seems to have happened since then. The annoying thing is, it doesn't happen all the time. Is this the same for you?

do you have the phone in another profile when the nokia tune plays? or do you have the wired headset connected during this time? when i am in normal profile, my mp3 plays when someone calls. but if i have my headset connected, the phone profile is automatically switched to another profile so it plays the default ringer for that profile which is always the nokia tune.
