Yes, at least 2 updates out of date.
That is the firmware my N95 classic came with and I got it on launch day!

its not that old if it's N95 8GB version it is only 1 update old
plus if your phone is branded it might be most upto date for your network until v15 is released branded

This is one of "those" subjects isn't it.

For every "Yeah do it, it's brilliant" story, there is a "I did it and now my phone is bolloxed" LOL.

Think I'll just loiter around the forum for a few more months and really work out if it's worth it 😉

Cheers 3 shirts :thumb:

It's like car tuning really, shall I turn the boost up a little?

Paranoid folk - No your car will explode into a million pieces and you will goto hell!
Sensible folk - Sure, just take it easy and it'll be fine. If you add a decent amount, you might want to look at getting it remapped properly so that the fueling can be adjusted to take advantage.

😉

There's always the Search option, a mighty tool (when used) that will help track down those elusive answers. 😉

Blimey, I'll not bother interacting then shall I not LOL. I'll just use the search function.

Heaven forbid I actually have to interact with another member 😃

no this is different, because the v20 firmware adds extremly good features, like demand paging which your old firmware does not have. A-GPS is another one that you do not have. extended battery life and dynamic voltage is something v20 brings, which you do not have. it really is a monster of a firmware update, and its necessary. seriously. it frees up RAM upon bootup so you can multitask correctly. try opening nokia maps and the gallery right now, you cant do it. with v20 you can open up multiple large apps no problem. v20 isnt one of the gimmick upgrades, its a legit advantageous upgrade for once.

Never had any problems with any of my Nokias ive upgraded.

The difference between my old firmware and the v20 is just crazy, its like having a new phone.

As said, just dont restorre a backup from the previous firmware. Start from scratch and you will be fine. Obviously you can copy back all the contacts, pics etc from your PC after, just dont use the inbuilt phone restore.

I think you'll find more than a slack handfull of stories like this dotted around the forum 😃

If you are refering to debranding, thats not an issue with the firmware, thats an issue with people not reading how to do it properly and service providers being to slow providing updates via the update service.

OK im not sure if you are being facetious or pedantic in your posts, but ill bite anyway.

I upgraded to V20 and have not had any issues, I read the debranding instructions several times to make sure I got it right, did the deed and was immediately impressed with the performance boost.

At the end of the day, you decide what to believe, we can only tell you of our experiences, I personally cant remember reading on these boards of anyone having problems with V20, only problems with restoring old backups and using the debranding software.

Use the search mate and prove me wrong (<-- Sarcastic Challenge)

What puts me off updating to V20 from V11 is that the maps tool looses its tracking feature, and this is very handy, in many circumstances.

Hi, I was just wondering when the v15 N95 8GB firmware for o2 customers will be available!? I have the latest NSeries PC Suite but it says that i have the latest firmware (v11) which is obviously incorrect. I called o2 today AND went in to the local store but the staff weren't of any help.

Please advise,

Thanks

Sorry, i was referring to N95 8GB. I am quite sure that Vodafone customers have access to the firmware, not sure about any others but i am interested in o2.....
