My PC is connected via DSL high speed internet. Beside my brothers using that PC for internet, I want to do internet on my Nokia N95. Is there any way I can use DSL internet (which is used on PC) on my Nokia N95? Is there any gadget which can be hooked to PC through USB to connect my Nokia N95 to the high speed internet.
And also where can I find all the settings to be done on PC and N95 in order to connect Nokia N95 to high speed internet through PC?
I'll greatly appreciate for technical guidance!
Thanks:tongue:
WiFi on N95. Please help!!
Probably the simplest solution is to buy a Wifi enabled hub. You can plug your DSL connection into this (assuming it's ethernet) then connect the Nokia via wifi. You need to set up a dhcp server, either on the wifi hub or your dsl box. Most wifi hubs come with built in dhcp servers. Make sure you read up on the security implications of enabling wifi.
Another slightly more expensive alternative is to buy a combined wireless/dsl router and ditch your current dsl box.

No no, the easiest way is to buy a cheap wireless USB dongle, plug that in the PC and then:
Using the windows wireless app, view wireless networks
Click on change advanced settings then the the wireless networks tab
Click Add, type a name, use Open network auth and WEP encryption and enter a network key
Tick the boxes for Connect even if not broadcasting and This is an ad-hoc network
Now go into your network connections folder and make the ethernet connection shared (right click > Properties > Advanced)
You should now be able to create a new access point on your phone and connect to the PC which will then share it's connection. I do this on my work PC and it works great.

This is a very inconvenient fix . I think the first advice was much better, buy yourself a wireless router or combo router/adsl modem. This way you can use your phone conveniently in your whole flat without the computer running.... In my opinion, if one has enough money to get N95, a £50-60 additional expense for wifi router is not going to ruin you.
one is easy, one is cheap.
EDIT
3Shirts method is cheap. Its a quick fix that should give you what you need.
The other method is more expensive, but possibly of more use depending on what further avenues you want to take.
Both decent answers for what the OP wanted.
i've found the dongles are good, allow an easy speedy access.
in the long run the router is always going to be the better choice IMO.
just depends on how much you want to spend and if you know what you are doing.

Fair enough but perhaps if you re-read the original post you will see that my answer is what he actually asked:

What do you mean by wireless dongle, should it be a WiFi dongle or Bluetooth dongle? I have a bluetooth dongle but there is no option of home networking in Nokia N95 for Bluetooth. This option is only available for WiFi. Can I use Bluetooth dongle for this purpose?
in this case you'd need the wifi dongle... which is what you were after.. not the BT dongle ..
