High Capacity battery for N95 Classic

Has anyone purchased a high capacity battery for their N95 Classic that doesn't require an enlarged rear cover ?

If so, where from and how much ?

TIA 😊

My question was whether anyone had purchased a higher capacity battery that didn't require a different back on the phone. Your suggested link (which I had already uncovered by using Search) didn't address that question, hence my new one.

As yet, I have not found a suitable replacement, save for 3rd party offerings on eBay and the like, and having seen what these can do to a phone, I'm not prepared to take that risk. And as Nokia don't seem to make a higher capacity genuine one, I will probably just get a 2nd BL-5F as a precautionary measure.

Thank you for your patience.

Imho, all "high capacity" batteries are just fake. I think we just have to live with the fact that a higher capacity also requires more space.

I am saying this because I've never come across a 2nd battery by any vendor on eBay & co that really outperforms the current BL-5F. Instead, they are often just labeled with some strange data that's just there for marketing purposes.

I'd be glad if anyone could prove me wrong though.

Yes you're right.

Put it this way if phone manufacturers could fit higher capacity cells into the same given space they would. Companies like Nokia, Sony Ericsson etc use the very best battery manufacturers.

What makes people think aftermarket products can be better is beyond me.... They don't have the financial clout or power. What you'll end up in most cases is cheap alternatives which only last about 50% as long, cut offs, dodgy workmanship, inconsistent quality, false claims on capacity etc... In the worse case scenario it burns a hole through your phone.

I would say 9 out of 10 are crap, however there are some much larger batteries which do last longer.

Well, I will see how I go with the handset over the next week or so. I have a round trip of 500 miles to do with Sat Nav, as well as other tasks for the phone to perform in between charges, so I'll get a better idea of how this battery will fare with my usage. Ultimately though, it looks like a second genuine BL-5F will have to suffice. The car charger should keep things ticking along.

I've also seen some of these 3rd party desktop chargers that also charge up a second battery and the reports are similar to 3rd party batteries I.E poor ! It's a shame Nokia don't seem to do them for the N95. I used to have one that charged up my 7110 and other 6xxx series phones as well as a spare battery. Worked a treat.

I guess I've just been spoiled by my N73 and it's fantastic battery performance.

You could put a Nokia BL-6F 1200mah into the classic but sadly the battery cover will not fit back on. It looks butt ugly though...

If you use a case for your phone then this is not a problem. Either leather case or a crystal tinted/coloured case would work.

I know what you mean. The one I have charges up the phone perfectly fine, but seems to overcharge the 2nd battery. It shows a red LED when its charging and green when it's charged... but it continues to charge it regardless. As a result, one of my N95 batteries has bulged ever so slightly. I've learnt that when I put a battery in there, I need to remove it once the LED is green (which means no overnight charging for the 2nd battery).

For the record, I use two official BL-5F batteries - one came with the phone, the other I bought on eBay. Came in the official packaging and the number on the hologram checked out on the Nokia website  A battery will last me about 24-36 hours of use, but I always hold the fully charged spare with me just in case I've forgotten to charge, which is infrequent.

IMHO it's good practice to have a spare battery anyway, even if you don't have a power guzzling phone like the N95.
