The N95 in black? What gives?

Bery95 has spotted a new N95 edition, set to hit the streets in Germany in April. All very mysterious though - the published specs all refer to microSD and attributes of the N95 'classic', yet the photo seems to show an N95 8GB. The new edition is touted under the label 'Navi', which could either mean a free navigation voucher or an extra software bundle. Wish my German was better...

Nothing wrong with my German or English 😉

BLACK Simlock free Dualmode-/Quadband-mobile phone with navigation pack and 2GB microSD card. UMTS (WCDMA HSDPA 2100) and GSM 850/900/1800/1900 frequencies (EDGE). WLAN, EDGE including support for UMTS mit HSDPA (High Speed Downlink Packet Access). 5 MPixel, Carl-Zeiss lens etc... Package content: Mobile phone, carcharging cable, Video-cable, data-cable, Stereo-Headset, standard-battery, travel charger. (I am skipping more bloody obvious specifications here). Weight 120 grams. IR yes. CardType is 'plugin'?. Calling time 6 hours 30 minutes. Color PLUM! Phone model number 002F6F0. Voice navigation and city guides sold seperately. 2.6" screen. MicroSD slot present

As you can read there is mention of it being black and in the specifications of it being plum. Also there is said navigation pack included and at the same time voice-navigation sold seperately. The picture is the 8 GB version where as the specs describe a N95-1-ish version. It seems Amazon actually are selling something they don't know what the hell it is.

In the Amazon.de link, the only mention I could see about a microSD card was that it supports such a card; no mention of a 2GB card, apart from a hint in the title. It's also interesting that the model number has been airbrushed off; very weird...

Strangely enough, I was actually able to read the title for myself....

However, it's not entirely obvious that 2GB Navi Pack means "a navigation package on a 2GB microSD card". The fact is, Amazon.de does not appear to know what it is they're actually selling, using a vague description and carefully edited photos...

In France, Carphone Warehouse (The Phone House, here...) has been selling the N95 Classic "Black" for one month now.

It's simply a N95 "Classic", with a black casing instead of a purple, sand or grey one... The slider remains metal grey, and the specs are unchanged.

And the FNAC sells the N95 Purple in a "Traveller Pack" edition, with european navigation maps loaded on a 2 Gb Micro SD Card.

So maybe the N95 black you refer to in this news is a kind of "mix" between these 2 offers...

Ha ha! They may have taken the "8GB" off the phone but if you look at the landscape shot it shows the phone playing "My Song - N95 8GB".

They have not even removed the 8G name. Look at the phone to the left and you can clearly see that it is a N95 8G
