symbian tcp/ip: using 'net from phone and as modem at same time?

Any symbian networking experts?

I find the 6120 cannot use the internet while an external device is connected by bluetooth DUN. Is there any way to share the packet-data connection between phone and USB or bluetooth?
To explain: I have a Nokia N800 which likes to keep a permanent internet connection via bluetooth to the phone. That way it can receive VoIP calls, internet messaging, etc.
But when its connected, I can't use the 'net from the phone - e.g. skype, fring, google maps.
I am with '3' in australia, and have two APNs, so it would be OK if the phone used one, and the "modem" another, each with their own IP address. But this doesn't work. Is 3G limited to a single packet data connection? Or Symbian? Or just the 6120?
Otherwise, it should be possible to share a single IP between local phone apps and the external device. Maybe using NAT?
The external device has a PPP session, and sees a public IP address. Does this PPP session go through the phone to the 3G exchange, or does it terminate in the phone with some other protocol over-the-air?
Hmm... getting a bit technical. Any pointers to a good intro on this?

And is there an easy way to share internet between local apps on the phone, and bluetooth DUN?

cheers, Mike
