N81 8GB restarts on WLAN, speakers background noise

Hi All,

I have bought the N81 8GB. Overall I am very pleased with the phone, BUT I have noticed a nasty bug!

When I try to connect to local Wireless Network, WEP secured, I enter the key in all CAPS. Phone tries to connect and RESETS.

I have tried many times, it resets every time. Very unpleasant.

I have then downloaded the nokia updater software and updated the firmware to the latest version. The same problem remained. Device restarts once I try to connect to the wireless network.

Then I have tried entering the network wep key in lower case, such as abcde1a instead of ABCDE1A...you get the idea.

It connects to the network now and does not restart; however, once connected it takes a long time for it to display which network it is connected to on the first screen (lets call it a desktop, I am new to Symbian).

From whatever I can figure out, if it works with wep key entered lowercase (works really fine) I do not believe it to be a hardware glitch?

Few more things I noteiced.

I got an application called 'Islamic Organiser' preinstalled. App manager simply refuses to delete it? Software bug?

And the Speakers, they seem too loud, which is supposed to be so I guess. However, just prior the music starts you can hear background speaker noise. Is this supposed to happen? Once the music starts, you can not notice it anymore and music quality is good.

So, basically, it is a great, really great phone; with above mentioned issues.

Thank you all for reading!

PS I have just noticed, SMS sorting by DATE is not working as it should. Again, a software glitch... does Nokia TEST the phones at all?
