free gps tracking,

i have seen an advertisement on this site for free gps tracking, all you have to do is put a piece of software on your phone and you can track it. can someone please tell me if this is legit or a con that will blast your contract through expensive texts and so on?😊

if you want a free GPS with full voice directions for turn by turn, then just download amAze GPS. its totally free. but it needs a data connection to stream the maps over the network. also there are a few other options for free. i dont know what specifically you are referring to with your post.

thanks for your input but i meant so i can track my phone should it be stolen. i already have satnav. just wondered what the tracking thing was about and if its a scam?

sturgeon, i have the sportstracker too. it is _freetracking.com

I believe you are after the same software I am after. I love my N95 8GB and god forbid someone took it from me, i would like to know where they are so that I can inform the approiate people.

So far I have heard of an application called Ufind GPS, which can be used with open signed. It sounds like the sort of application that once installed on your phone, you could track its location. The only problem is I have not been able to find any really information regarding the application.

However hold you horses for symbian toys gaurdian 3rd adition. Once this anti theft application is released, should your phone be lost or taken from you then you will be able to track its location secretly. The only problem is the beta stage has finished and it will not be free. However it will only be a one off payment. From what i have been told it secretly sends texts message from the unauthorised sim card in the device with the devices current GPS co-ordinates, which you can plot, and failing no sats due to being in a built up area it will send the cell site information, which you can also use to track the phone. The only problem with that is that it is not that accuarte.

Does anyone out there know about Ufind GPS????

I hate windows mobile phones with a passion, but they have had applications like this for some time now.

Hope this helps you in someway.

I have just looked at freetracking and it looks rather promising. The only concern i would have is that it is based on cell site. so if the git who stole your phone doesnt put a sim card in the phone, then surely you wont find it.
Also does it have a no unistall mode. With the symbian toy software the application does not show up on the phone, and cant be uninstalled. (not really sure how that works, but i like the sound of it)
I just had quick glance and will have a better look later, but it does sound promising.
