Anybody know how to make this work??

I'm sure most of you know about this, but basically you can download the maps and the voice navigation to copy on your memory card so you don't get charged for using the maps.

I was wondering if anybody can help me as to where i need to load them onto my memory card to make it work.. i copied it over and put them in the file path as where it suggested on the website but it still didn't work.

Can anybody help me out here? If anybody could tell me the correct file path to use on my N95-1 that would be great.

Thanks

Simon

EDIT - Forgot the link 😊

I assume you can't use MapLoader for some reason (e.g. no access to Windows computer)? Otherwise that's the far easier way to do this.

But if you do want to go down this route, content of the zip file with the map data should be extracted to e:\cities\diskcache\; the zip file for voice data should be extracted to e:\cities\.

I agree. Nokia Maps... the easiest way to get the maps on your phone (and up to now I thought the only way, besides being charged for it).

thanks for the replies both of you.

yea, at the moment i don't have access to a windows computer, im using mac.

randomfan, i tried that file path but i didn't get any luck with it.. have you tried it yourself?

thanks

Do you get charged for actually using the voice guidance then? 😮

Or are we just talking about data download charges?

if you havn't got the voice guidance on you phone then you will be charged for downloading them.

Is it possible to put the voice guidance on my phone?

How do I know if it is already installed or not?

I have not knowingly installed it, but have installed some maps.

***EDIT****

AH!, Just read above posts again.

sorry to bring up this post again ppl, but ive been playing with the maps and downloaded a few through my wifi... so then i went to my memory card to see if e:/cities/diskcache was there but it wasn't...
i looked to see if that file path was on my internal memory but that wasn't there either?!?

i do have maps of my area installed on the phone somewhere.. is there anyway i can find them or somebody tell me where they are?

i should say that im using N95-1 v12.

thanks

simon

ok... i think i have found the file path on my memory card... can anybody confirm if this is the same for them...

/Private/20001f63/diskcache/

looks like it is the right file path.. but i wanted to make sure.

thanks

no, it should be e:\cities\diskcache\

the directories for the maps data will only be created after you've opened the Maps application at least once.

ok well i have sorted it out.. the file path 'e:\cities\diskcache' didnt work...
but e:/Private/20001f63/diskcache/ works fine.

this is the filepath that maps created when i opened it for the first time..

so if anybody else is getting this problem then try that file path.
