Multimedia keys for gaming?

I have tried many emulators as you can define the keys you wish to use. None of these seem to work either. However the GL Quake emulator allows you to use keys that you would normally not be allowed to use ie menu keys around the dpad and the volume up and down keys.

I am hoping that when n-gage comes to life fully it will use these keys to play games, similar to how the N96 is marketed as doing. And then when people dont want to use N-gage and play something else they become a little pissed as to why they cant use the keys for any game. I am then hoping that one of these pissed off guys develops a work around for it. I would do it myself but i would not have a clue where to begin.....
