Linux & E90: Unplugging USB always gives a warning

After I transfer data back and forth from my phone to my Fedora 8 desktop, I right click over the "Memory Card" icon on the desktop and choose Unmount, and I wait while it says "please wait writing data..." and when that's done, I unplug the USB cable.

The phone always complains that the cable was disconnected while data was being written, blah blah. No apparent data loss took place. Is the phone designed to expect some windowish signal when it's unmounted, I wonder?

I have found that in Windows XP Pro the way to stop this behaviour is to get permission to remove the device, wait for the 'bubble' to pop up from the Task Bar saying 'you may', click on it so the 'bubble' closes, turning to the E90 acknowledge the message saying you can disconnect by pressing OK and it seems to close everything off nicely. Any of these steps missing and I get the same as you.
