Backing up messages

Well you were lucky ive never been able to back up messages. If you set the message memory to car it will move everything on but theres never been an option to move back.

Hi, thanks for your answer.

Based on what I read, the primary function of the app is to read SMS aloud and it does allow backing up of the Inbox only.

I can't believe that a phone this advanced can't copy SMS from one place to the other in a flash.

Does anyone know where they get stored and if they can be copied manually?

open messaging / options / settings / other / Memory in use .. Change from phone memory to memory card .. at this point you're offered the chance to copy the messages to memory card .. do it 😊

of course you can also use PC Suite to back up to your PC .. you should do this too! 😊

I've already tried this several times to no avail.

and upgrade to v21 ..

if your PC suite won't backup messages you need a more recent version.

You should install the latest version before upgrading to v21 anyway.

Oh, PCSuite works, but the first method doesn't.

Basically, what I want to do is copy all SMS to the phone's memory for faster access to them. I have over 3000 SMS stored in my flash card and access times are just too slow for my taste.

So will PCSuite copy all the messages from my phone's memory AND the ones already in ym flash memory and bundle them in one big SMS database that can later be copied into my phone's memory?

with folders .. but I haven't got PC suite here 😊 so I'm not sure if the two sources can be merged.

The copy option does seem to be a oncer too!
Probably a flag someplace to re-enable that.

SO here's a plan - dunno if it will work for sure.
Take any messages on the phone memory stick them in a new folder (eg backup)
backup everything using PC suite .. do a hard reset Green and * and 3 while turning on.
try the copy option now

If a hard reset doesn't help try an upgrade to v21 (or reflash v20) then
try the copy option again.

Give it a go - like I say dunno if its gonna work!😊
