Noticed the stand still in posting! Its like ghost town. I have noticed that our P800 section is Waaaaay behind of that in my-symbian.com. he seems to attract all freelance developers. ScummVM, Goboy, The Sierra one that I cant remeber and almost everything else goes live in his forums! How does he do that :/
What can we do to attract such developers like sprawl and others....?
Hosting their projects maybe....or be more up to date on P800 things posting news and stuff! Any suggestions?
Yeah we probably need to get our P800 act together.
Its been a bit quiet this weekend beacuse of the server move so the site has been down on one or two occasions.
Still there were 212 posts in the last 24 hours which is still fairly busy.
I'm open to suggestion on how to improve things. Thinsg have been very busy recently for me so I've not be as on the ball as I should be 😞
Hosting is one thign we do have planned 😊
As an aside the wap site been fairly busy 300 vistors daily and around 3500 pageviews. A ration of 1:10 visits/page views is amazing for WAP! This figure does not inlcude wap access via the forum.
Rafe
Nice to hear that traffic isnt like a thought! The numbers you mentioned are very good considering the move and all. I am happier now 😃
However, the P800 section isnt what it should be! I will try to post more news about P800 although I havent go the machine! Maybe I should..hmm!
J2theIZZO can be more help since he will get the device soon. Even in other forums Series 60 traffic is lower now that the P800 is out! Well I have to think and get back to you with ideas!
Hey we don;t need to be the hightest, most popular, most trafficed site for everything do we? 😉
I guess when P800's hit the regular public we'll see the upswing. My-Sy always seems a lot more technical than us free wheeling AAS peeps!
Problem is we are just SO damn popular at everything else, they wanted a head-start. And good luck to em 😉
I'm busy, way busy to advertise 😊
until 17/02 that is

I'd like to think so, but the bloody phone shop!!!!!!!        , haven't sent the phone out          .....Bah!!, I give in, I don't think it was meant to be :x :x :x :x :x
I've always been curious about hos My-Sy always seems to get things very quickly. He doesn't seem the most friendly of people, yet he has so many contacts..... then again, we talking about a site that gets regular news postings from jpzr.
Don;t forget My-Sy did Nokia Communicators from the 9000 era, over 10 years ago. Just having one name in a company will get you a machine - having disucssed with Rafe we have a good relationship with the coders and certain management in Nokia et al, but very little PR guru's.
I still think it's better to be able to influence decisions (witness OPL and have a guess how much backroom work and emails and meetings you lot never saw me attend) than to say look I;ve got a P800 to review becuase I'm on a list in the PR Drone's office.

Yes I have noticed that . I mean who would let this guy post news when there is so much flame going on about him? Michael is not angel too, he can be quite aggresive to people!
Anways I still believe that our P800 section needs shaping up, maybe not to be the best but be at least good at it!

Can't you persude the Nokia managers you know to inform their PR guys about AAS? I agree its much more important to have an influence with the coders and management however its would not do any harm to cover all your bases. If Rafe, yourself or another administrator were given new models to try out. It means that AAS could provide better coverage of these devices and improve the profile of this site at the same time.
I also agree that Michael often seems agressive and I wonder if sometimes he puts people off Symbian rather than encourages them.

Problem here is that the people that matter do know. We've had mention in the printed press, and in TheRegister (good coverage there so we are doing something right). Symbian recognise us. Unfortunately supporting Symbian doesn't directly support Nokia or SonyEricsson so blagging units off of them is hard. We could try to get Symbian to ask the companies to pass the Symbian devices onto us but again they will probably ignore it as it's a) not Symbian's place to request that, and b) not our place to request that off of Symbian in the first place.
So the problem is that Nokia and Sony Ericsson don't know about (or chose to aknowledge) AAS!
Would a possible solution be make them aware?
Should we try and encourage out users to Email these companies and say why don't AAS recieve review machines, etc?
Its not the kind of tactic I would normally recommend but its still more polite than attacking them. Which seems to work for another site!
I just feel that this site is the best Symbian based one around and the companies that use Symbian should recognise it by recognising AAS.
I would not post a message like I suggested without consulting the rest of you but I'm happy to do so as long it was though wothwhile.
