This is the 3rd country after UK and Germany right?
well i've switched to mac so internet explorer is not an option. it astonishes me that nokia is so dumb as to lock their pc suite software to windows. that their map loading software needs a windows pc to pull down a single countries map. now their song downloading tech needs windows. they should be confident enough in their own platform to have the software runnable on a nokia. it's solid enough.
next problem is that the current crop of nokias don't have the capacity for music. i have an e61i. even with a 2gb card i need 400-500mb for photos, video, documents, books to use all the other powerful features of the device for work. when i first got it i used it as an mp3 player and it was great but it was only holding a tiny collection of 400 songs or so (this was a huge amount a few years ago but now...). very good mp3 player and i prefer the user interface to the ipod i got to replace it for mp3s and playing movies. but i can store tons on the 8gb ipod nano compared to the amount on the 2gb card. 2 movies and 1000 songs or so. days between hearing the same song again = less boredom.
would i buy an iphone? no, i like symbian. it's not perfect. but it is the best out there. if i had to ask nokia for a list of improvements they would be;
1) bigger capacity cards for phones for the reasons above. 1gb-2gb mp3 players are obsolete. especially with video ipods.
2) a version of the e61i with an fm radio. i was in hospital for 2 weeks and the only mp3 player i brought was a n70 as it also had a fm radio. saved my sanity (what little there is). that it also charged of my nokia charger was very very useful. allowed me to drown out the noise around me and get some much needed rest.
3) sort out the python pdf documentation so that it can be read by the pdf viewer on the nokia. don't know if it's the pdf file or the version of pdf viewer software but it would have been nice to read the documentation on the phone while was flat on my back.
4) add a function to the web browser so that a web page can be saved. i could go to project gutenburg and view a book but i couldn't save the file off from the browser. i even installed opera mini and opera trial and they couldn't save a page. why is this so difficult? there was a vodafone live browser that would save the file but they seem to be compressed and unviewable in any other application.
5) add a least one game to every device. when i only had my e61i at first i had to buy and download a game to pass the time. the n70 card and sodoku games kept me going when i was too sore to concentrate to read.
i expect the bigger cards will come soon. the fm radio one would be nice. the pdf documentation has been broken since day one. please please add the ability to save a page to the browser.
other than that thanks nokia for a fantastic device that allowed me to browse the web, work on projects for work friends and myself. read books that i never had the chance to get to before (i had always said i would read john carter on mars series but never had the time, i had the files on my phone for yonks but never got to them). made a hospital stay bearable. a few people asked what i was doing with my phone all the time that i showed them and were stunned by books, music, web abilities that i reckon i may have sold 4-5 s60 devices while i was there.
Right now ther are five countries wher the strore is available:1.UK;2.Finland;3.Germany;4.Ireland;5.Italy.
