Hi folks,

Could anyone sort me out with a signed copy of rotateme? I did do a search of the board but there are seems to be no consensus as to whether or not it's possible at the moment?? :con?

Darren

No one can sign anything for you. You have to do it yourself using Open Signed Online, see post above by munkii for link.

It all depends on which version of RotateMe you have. The latest stable version available on the public website, v2.0, can not be signed with Open Signed Online due to it having a protected UID; people who have donated have access to v2.1 beta at the moment which has been modified to use an unprotected UID, thus making it signable online.

The simplest way is to donate something to the developers. Even a paltry €5 is welcome. You then get access to the forums and the latest beta. Also on the forums are simple step by step instructions on how to get it signed. Took me all of 5 minutes from donation to installing the app on my phone 😊

If you you want rotateme for N95 8GB don't even bother to sign it since very soon N95 8GB is getting a firmware update with Rotate Screen capabilities.

It would be VERY nice if SOME Developers actually gave a damn about their "customers" and using a part of their profits ($20USD) to buy a proper certificate to sign the FINAL versions.

Support should work both ways..

The use of the word "customers" infers that there is a product to sell. Samir isn't selling "rotateme". His website is informing everyone of the product and making beta versions available. Once it is completed and stable, I'm sure Samir will get it signed properly and make it available. In the meantime, writing and developing a piece of software takes time and I'm sure Samir has a day job to pay his bills. However, there is nothing wrong with him asking for a contribution to help towards his work and to show some appreciation.

The simple fact is, if you don't want to pay a donation, don't pay it.

Software development is a pretty thankless task. Create something and charge for it and the world is on your ass demanding changes and developments left right and centre because they believe that paying for it gives them the right. Create something and ask for a donation and people think you're just hedging your bets and getting some cash for what would normally be free. Create something for free and the world thinks it's rubbish and worthless and you get no thanks whatsoever from the squillions of people who just take it and run.

I personally donated €5 (£4.01) to Samir. A tiny amount but enough for the guy to buy himself a pint of his favourite brew and enough for me to get the latest version of the app to try and to feedback on.
