Camera controlled, wireless multiplayer Bejewelled... BUT

...BUT not for the platform you were expecting. Showing that there's (a tiny bit of) life left in the old S60 2nd Edition platform, here's news of what appears to be a camera-controlled, wireless multiplayer version of Bejewelled - that runs on the likes of the Nokia 6630 and N70. At least there are plans to port it to something more modern.

Read on in the full article.

Well you shouldn't forget what phones NORMAL people are using, and those are still S60 2nd edition devices. But I'm not sure are they buying software on their phones or are they even aware of the possibility.

S60v2 is still alive and kicking, its been kept alive by the supporters of 'Open' S60 platform. Their 'Word of Mouth' advertising ensures continued sales of S60v2.
But I personally think the recent 'burst-open' version of S60v3 (good job symbian-freak) would turn out to be a final nail in S60v2's coffin.

Just to note that I zapped some of the silly off-topic comments (again). In response to the taunts: this was a simply LOI post - that's Link Of Interest - and no, it wasn't supposed to be journalism, it was a pointer to something I found interesting.

Journalism is when Rafe, Ewan, Krisse, Asri and I (among others) write 1000 words plus on something detailed. Just in case anyone's having trouble telling the two apart.

Okay, here's my comment again, without the taunts. 😊 And I hope it's not too far off-topic.

It doesn't say in the post you linked to that there are plans to port it, only that the guy who wrote the post would try to talk the coder of the game into porting it.

And I think the phrasing "life left in the old S60 2nd Edition platform" makes it sound as if it's a newly developed piece of software, while in the linked post it says "it won some competitions back in the day".

Fair points. Although the software was completely new to me. Implying that it's probably new to 99% of other readers?

And I think we can assume that the request for porting will be rather persuasive!

You can be persuasive as you like, but there are some people who just won't leave 'open' S60 behind.
