Card access VERY slow

Hi - I'm using an 8GB micro SD card from SanDisk with my E90.

My problem is that accessing its contents (for example when going from Gallery to Photos) is painfully slow. The folder does eventually open but it can take 2-3 minutes.

Same issue when browsing videos or music.

I do have hundreds of photos and hundreds of MP3s on there but I am still amazaed at how slow it is. In contrast, my iPhone with similar volume of content opens folders almost instantly.

Any suggestions or help would be greatly appreciated...

(By the way, the card was formatted on the E90.)

Where did you buy the card from? Some cards sold on ebay and elsewhere are fakes, and tend to perform very poorly because they're blank label rejects.

You could also try formatting it on a PC and seeing if that helps, or deleting the thumbnail images from the card.

First of all, you can't compare it with an iPhone. iPhone has its storage soldered onto the board with direct connection. It's like comparing an internal hard drive to an external. There's no way the external can be as fast or as reliable as the internal one. If you have tons and tons of files within one media folder, then yes, it will take a long time to open them. It takes me up to 30 seconds to open to select a ringtone because I have about 1.5 GB of music on my 4GB MicroSD.

IMO the E90 was not meant to be a music/media phone. It's supposed to be a business phone after all.

If it helps, try to open them from your file manager, and then play it that way (one by one), or use software such as the Y-browser (free) to access your folders (I notice that it's generally faster than the built-in file explorer).

Hope that helps.
