Backup Fails to restore after firmware upgrade

Yesterday I upgraded to the latest N95 firmware (21.0.016)

Before I upgraded I used the Nokia PC Suite to do a full backup (which it did without error). However when I came to restore it afterwards it copies the data across (without error) restarts the phone, and none of my contacts/messages/calendar entries have actually restored.

Funnily it restores some really old backups but refuses to restore this latest one.

I have checked the backup file using "noki" and this shows that the data is contained within the file.

Any ideas/tips for getting it back on the phone, i've tried multiple reflashes/resets, restoring ones by one etc.

Many Thanks

could be because you are trying to restore the system state data from the older firmware.

doesn't always, if ever, work.

Yea I did wonder if that was the issue. Seems to be ok with older firmware backups though.

Having had a google last night it seems to be quite a common issue with the Nokia Content Copier

had exactly the same problem myself when going from v11 to v20.

There is a way to get the contacts back eventually which i posted on the forum a while ago but its very long winded. I'd recommend just using one of your early backups if they work ok and living with re-entering any data that may be missing.

I have since discovered its far better to rely on a synch between the phone and outlook to keep your contacts and calendar backed up if possible. Sadly, i learnt this the hard way :frown:
