Hi! I took delivery of a nice shiny N95 today, and decided that I ought to upgrade the firmware. I launched the Software Updater, and it downloaded the firmware fine. However, it is now installing it on the phone, and has said "15 minutes remaining" for about half an hour. What should I do? I don't want to brick the phone by removing it.

just be patient it done this to me 1st time upgraded i thought it was not working but it will eventualy finish
I ended up unplugging the phone after about 2 hours, and thankfully didn't brick it-the old firmware had not even been removed.
Is there anything that needs doing on the phone before upgrading the firmware? WiFi off? Memory card in or out? Anything else? I turned off my PC's firewall...
Think I will take it to a service centre today.
It doesn't matter if wifi is on etc as the actual firmware loading is done after the updater turns your phone off. As for memory card, i've always done it with the card in and its been fine.
Don't hook it up to a USB hub - direct only.
take memory card out, put it in general profile, have the mains charger in, direct link to usb port on computer and leave it still.
(Might be worthwhile leaving your AV off too if your having probs)
