problem with n80

I have a problem with my n80 ie. When I slide open the phone, the display goes purple and the icons are distorted and their position is modified. it looks like a major error. Did anyone else had this problem? How can I remediate this without going to a nokia service. Of course if I won't find an answear I will go to Nokia service.

Seems hardware... its the problem of slide devices. You have to go to a Nokia Service.

Have you tried doing a Hard Reset on the phone to see if that helps? It does sound like a hardware issue but I would try doing a hard reset just in case.

my n80 started having this problem about a week ago, i was going to surf the net for an answer.
the slide is fine, but when i squeeze the screen or the silver frame, the display comes back to normal.

not only is the purple colour, but also lines going arcoss the screen.
i was told in a nokia repair centre that that cover needs taking off and putting back on,its gone loose, over time.
and in my pocket i started putting my keys with the phone.

the man at nokia said, i should change my housing as it old and scratched and replace it with a new one and that will sort my phone problem out, or just tighten it.

he said he has seen and fixed this problem many times.

so i hope this helps

Seems like problem with Flex cable to me. Mine is going white after slide open and cable is ordered. I'll let you know after I change the cable if it helped.

Alright, I've just changed that Flex cable and everything works just fine. I bought it fro ebay and this video: http://youtube.com/watch?v=GwcqJqNR_QE helped me with disassembly. You don't have to go all the way, cable is removed after 6mins 😊. I guess I would have been charged much more in nokia centre, than just 3 pounds for cable.
Hope this helps

i dont know anything about the flex cable, but i had a original nokia cover put on my n80 and all is well
