WOM World widens, now covers other Nokia hardware

I'd been bending the ears of Nokia's Eseries team for ages about signing up with WOM World to handle buzz about their products and to manage triallist programs. And now it's happened, although my nagging was probably only a small part of the process(!) Here's the new, generic WOM/Nokia home page for you to keep track of via RSS. There will probably be an official statement along soon, too, hopefully with the announcement and trial-availability of at least one new Eseries smartphone.

I think the reason for this is simply the upcoming reorganisation of Nokia.

For those who don't know, here's what's happening this year:

Until now, Nokia was made up of three main divisions: Mobile Phones (who do numbered phones), Multimedia (who do Nseries) and Enterprise (who do Eseries). (There's also a Networks bit, but that's nothing to do with the phones.)

Now that's all going to change.

Nokia is going to be divided up into Devices (who make all their products), Software/Services (who develop the software side of things, presumably including S60) and Marketing (who promote all the products).

I'm guessing WOM used to be part of Multimedia, but now they'll be part of Marketing, which means they'll be covering all of Nokia's products, not just Nseries. Notice how "Nseries" has completely disappeared from the new WOM website?

No, WOM World is run by 1000 Heads, based near Oxford. As I understand it, they're commissioned by Nokia to do this sort of thing - WOM are not part of Nokia 8-)

hey guys, thanks for the mention, we've just been having a bit of a test today and will be officially launching tomorrow. Just to let you know as well, the WOM World / Nokia is essentially part of the Nokia experiential marketing with 1000heads input, it is definitely a collaborative platform on all fronts. anyway more to come in the morning! 😊

I suspect this change has come about partly because of the impending announcement of the Nokia E71 and others.

bartmanekul- I would assume so- like krisse said- they're all together now, I'd assume if WOM can get Eseries devices, they can get devices from what used to be the MP division.

A little over a week ago I got an email from Donna at WOM World asking me if I'd like to trial an E51 or an E65.* Since I'd actually been thinking about buying an E51 as a second (weekend) phone, I jumped at it and a brand new E51 arrived a couple days later. That all said, I am very impressed with the E51.* The firmware is very stable (not one crash since I've had it) and it's so small but with an easy to use keypad.* Usually small phones are hard for me to use because of my big hands.* I think Nokia has a real winner here and that the E51 will be popular with both business users and general consumers.* Getting the E-series (my favorite Nokia series) into WOM World was a great idea.Mark Laris
