I was updating my phone to EURO1 after having changed the product code with nss, i've done this before, and it was all going well until..
i opened up NSU clicked next, next, ok update yes etc.. it started updating alright, its giving me estimated time left 15 minutes.. then windows vista popped this little message up "some driver thing had to be shut down because of something reason app crash"
now nokia software updater is still open. still says estimated time left 15 minutes. still wont let me close it. and its been like that for an hour.. Suggestions on what i should do?
thanks
I had the same problem, if you take the battery out then your phone will restart okay, I was worried it was bricked but it was fine. At the moment you can only update using XP, in the latest update it caused a problem in vista and it keeps crashing at this point. Hopefully they'll release an update soon that fixes it again
Seems to be a Vista-only bug...
Just cut the connection. Most likely your device isn't bricked. A LOT of users are experiencing this with the new updater and it is always stuck on 15 min remaining. Almost everyone reports back that after a hard reset their devices runs fine again, although not updated.
Try again on a XP pc.
EDIT:
Beat me on the line, hobsgrg 😊
yeah, you were both right, took out the battery, rebooted and its fine. So is updating on XP the only way to do it these days until they release a working version of the updater?
Vista worked fine for me!?!
How do i do a hard reset? (for future reference, in case i were to have problems)
With the phone off hold green hash and three key and switch on
Same happened to me with Vista Home Premium. Didn't need a hard reset though, just taking the battery out then replacing it and restarting the phone did the job. It was a tense moment though!
