BeatEd - a simple drum machine for S60

25 replies · 7,138 views · Started 20 April 2008

BeatEd is a simple drum machine application for Symbian S60 3rd edition mobile phones. It was originally developed in couple of nights to get a drum machine and metronome application for personal guitar playing purposes. After getting a lot of new ideas and positive feedback, I decided to improve it a bit and make a decent public release of it. So here it is, have fun!

There are couple of new BeatEd sample kits available for download. Both kits are provided by BeatEd users. If you have your own ideas for a good drum kit, please check the "Own sample kits help" info on BeatEd homepage. I would be very pleased to publish good sample kits by all you BeatEd fans on the download page.

I have installed this on my N95 (v20.0.015)
It says it has installed ok, but I cant find any icon to start the program anywhere??

Ive tried installing it to phone memory and card but no joy.

Any ideay guys??

BeatEd icon is located in device's default menu folder for installed applications. The folder depends on the device, on N95 it is probably "Applications" or something similar depending on your language. Some devices have another folder under Applications called Own or something like that..

Thanks for the swift reply, unfortunately it isnt nowhere to be found?

I have the applications folder (where my installed stuff usualy goes tomtom..etc) but its not there?

Then I doubt that it is not installed successfully.. Check from the application manager that if you have BeatEd visible there. Also check from the application manager options that you are allowed to install unsigned software to your device. Are you sure that you have installed the correct BeatEd package? There are also some additional sample pack install packages available, but those dont include the application itself.

Duh!

I have been installing just the 'default kit' thinking it contained the app too.

Thanks for putting me straight, ile go and install the application now!!

Sorry.

Heh! There is a text "NOTICE! BeatEd application package does not include any samples." on the download page... Maybe I should also add notice that the application is not included in any sample kit packages 😊

Thanks for the update. This app is really quite clever and so easy to use! I use it to keep a beat for me when I'm practicing on guitar.

Yes, you can. Just export your loop to AAC audio clip and then go to Main menu->Settings->Profiles and personalise your profile. You should find the exported clip in the list of available audio files for ring tones. Probably WAV audio works as well if you like to have uncompressed quality.

I have saved a beat in BeatEd and exported to Phones main memory but it doesnt give me the chance tochoose AAC or WAV and I cannot find it in the list of tones. Can anyone throw any light on this. Thanks

Four new sample kits are available from the BeatEd home page:
