Phonebook Pattern Matching 7 digits - Wrong person being displayed - WTF???

Hi folks - advice please, as I am wondering if I am missing something here...

I am having a problem with my phone.

It is showing the wrong person when I receive texts, calls, or even try and ring out. Thing is, I have worked out why, I reckon, but if so, it's an absolute joke on the part of Nokia... You see, I am well aware, that when a call comes in, the phone does NOT check the WHOLE number, to see if it is stored in the phonebook, and then tell me who it is, if it matches up...

Like all phones, it only checks the last however many digits, to find a match, NOT the entire number.

The problem I have found, is that I my friend has recently changed her number. And when she rings me now, or texts, the phone tells me it is a DIFFERENT person that is ringing me, that was already in my phonebook.

I have checked, and I can see why... It is becasue the last seven digits of the numbers are the same.

But since when did Nokia only pattern match based on only the last SEVEN digits???

I thought it used at least eight, if not nine digits.

Using only seven is always going to result in the case such as mine, for a certain few people, as the combinations and permutations are that much smaller using only the last seven digits. It even means that if I receive a call, and press to return the call, the OTHER person already in my phone book actually gets dialled instead.

This is a disgrace, and I have never heard of this before. But as I say, I know the reason - the LAST seven digits in each person's numbers are the same.

I just can't believe, and don't ever recall, Nokia only using SEVEN digits to do the phone book matching...

Anyone any ideas?
