Nokia Software Updater

Hi All

Just got my E90 and after installing the PC Suite from the CD noticed that I had an option to update the phone software.

When I select this option (Nokia Software Updater version 4.36en) it goes through the motions and then when it goes to update the USB connection automatically disconnects? Obviously then the software states that there is no phone connected!

I've seen similar posts on here but no solutions. I've tried a different USB port and reset the E90 (removing the battery as well) but no joy?

Is this a recurrent problem or am I doing something wrong?

Many thanks.
Blinkey!

Hi there, I had similar trouble with my E61...

... I had my messages set to being saved in the 'Memory Card'. In order to get a stable USB connection I had to change this back to the default of messages memory to 'Phone Memory' - on the E61 this is in the 'Messages' - 'Settings' - 'Other' menu.

Not too sure why this should effect the USB connection accept that when connecting by USB it seems that it doesn't like anything in the phone having anything to do with the memory card.

I know it sounds a bit random, but it worked for me.

...other than that, I once also had a loose connection with USB - drove me insane until I realised. The way to check this isn't the case other than jiggling the wires is to keep an eye on the USB icon on the screen of the phone and make sure you don't see it flicker at all durint the process...

Hope this helps...
