I have a Nokia 7610, which was working perfectly fine until sometime ago.
Recently, whenever a message would come, instead of showing '1 message recieved' on the main screen and an envelope on the side of the main screen, it would only show the envelope on the right hand side, but not the '1 message recieved' part.
Similarly, if I got a missed call, it would not show me the message '1 missed call', but would only show the arrow on the screen.
After 2 days, the theme that I was using automatically switched to the basic theme. I tried restarting the phone and my theme came back. But 2 minutes later it again switched over to the basic theme. After the theme switches to the basic theme, I am unable to open any application and also cannot go to the main menu.
I think my phone may need re-formatting, but I do not know how to take a back up on my PC. I have the old Nokia PC Suite(v6), but it does not allow me to copy my messages nor does it update my contact list. What can I do to resolve this problem? Any suggestions.
Has anybody else had this sort of problem before?

hi! iam experiencing the same problem regarding message alert display right now, so any updates?
i have tried going back to the orig phone settings but still the problem is there.
