Yesterday I just converted my N73-5 RM-132 to N73-1 RM-133.Now I am very happy.I did
it myself and want to share the method with you people.

Note:The N73-5 RM-132 is a Non-3G variant of the N73 while the N73-1 RM-133 is a 3G variant and supports 3G in WCDMA 2100 Band.

To convert your N73-5 to N73-1 to support 3G you will need a CA-53 USB Data Cable,Nokia Phoenix Service Software 2007(2006 might also work) and a RM-133 Firmware.

Follow the steps mentioned below:

1]Plug the USB connector of the CA-53 Data Cable to your computers USB port but don't connect your phone yet.

2]Install the RM-133 Firmware

3]Open Phoenix Service Software 2007 and click maintain and add new user.

4]After adding details select the user and click OK.The Phoenix main window will open.

5]Now choose file menu and click on Open Product.

6]Select RM-133 from the list and click on OK.It will take some time to load since the phone is not connected.

7]Choose the flashing menu and click on Firmware Update.

8]The Firmware Update window will appear but since the phone is not connected it will take some time to load.

9]In the product code section select your product code. For eg APAC 1 or APAC 2,EURO 1 or EURO 2.

10]Now connect your phone to the PC by the CA-53 Data Cable and select PC Suite mode.

11]Click on OK in the Firmware Update window of Phoenix. Now after it verifies connectivity with the phone it will restart the phone and start flashing.Don't touch the phone while the flashing process otherwise you have the risk of a dead phone.

Backup all your important data such as contacts and messages before flashing.

You can void your warranty by converting your phone but it is not yet confirmed.

If you are a noob at flashing phones then please consult me before flashing.

If you don't have a CA-53 cable then you will need to purchase it.It is available at any Nokia shop by the way it also comes with every N73.

After this process I feel that I had purchased a new phone.

guys...
to convert your phone from 132 to 133 .. just change your product code with region that support 3g.. like product code from euro or apac ... and then, update to the latest firmware *if you still can though* .. and that's it..

if you have a rm132 and firmware 4.03xxx below... you can still update to the latest 4.05xxxx with a product code of rm133 .. use nemesis to change it...

zamirdor, your firmware is 4.07 .. it's quite the latest and there is another fw which is 4.08xxx but it was pulled out from nokia... look for product code in this forum, it has for 133 ..

Now, why would anyone want to flash a RM-132 to a RM-133?
I assume you don't think you'll be able to use UMTS just because of a firmware swap, do you?

You need an euro product code AND the HW (hard wear) along with it.

Does any one have them?

I really want to put 3G on my N73-5 RM-132.

There for Ive been told that I must change the product code to an European one.

I do have the nemesis BUT

In order to do it I must change not only the product code. I need to change the HW (Hardware) version as well.

I have lots of euro product codes but I dont have any HW of them!

Does any one have it?

no need for hardware..
but use the product code of rm-133 .. check your phone *#0000# after you updated the firmware.. if it says rm-133, then you'll have the 3g service by default

Cant understand. Did u mean that the Rm-132 phone updates with the Rm-133 FW simply by changin its product code to Rm-133 Emea? How an updater or a Phoenix SW will recognise my Rm-132 as an Rm-133?

yes.. just change the product code...
for example, 0527009 is the N73 Normal EMEA Euro1 product code... has RM133 support .. if you change to this product code using NSS, then your N73 will support 3G ..
the product code depends on region, if your country mostly doesnt use the 3G service.. then it's no use anyway.. but it's always and advantage to have it when u go roaming..

it's not depend on the NSU or phoenix .. it's the product code.. the hardware is there in the phone, only software..

No, losers. Crappy RM-132s WILL NOT magically support 3G by means of a firmware update.
Cry your hearts out.

hey bros but from whr would i get RM 133 - FIRMWARE & Nokia Phoenix Service Software 2007

there ..
and still, somebody said it's not possible... not the hardware, it's the software..
noobs..

I couldnt upgrade my n73-5 by changing the product code because it had the latest rm-132 fw on it already. So I had to flash it with a early rm-133 fw using phoenix. Then I changed the product code to a music edition version. And then I ran nokia software updater so I could get the latest "official" firmware. I left the product code cause I dont want a rm-132 product code anyway. I now have a UMTS option. So it should support 3g. but I have no sim to test it with. but it works fine on my current network. If anyones having problems, I had to search the internet for and long time, and it was kinda hard finding the files. But heres a link to a forum that helped alot. Good look to anyone trying this!

Nokia N73 3G version (RM-133) is not only a firmware update question. You need that the phone has the hardware that need to connect in the 3G network. Beyond update to RM-133 firmware you can't get connected to the 3G net.

Even if it doesnt have 3g it wouldnt bother me much. I just wanted to have the latest firmware. And thats exacly what I did.

Dear Abhishek,

I followed your steps and converted my Nokia N73-5 to Nokia N73-1 and now I could able to see the dual network mode. Actually I got activated 3G in my N73-5 handset with an impression that it will support 3G, but 3G icon was not appearing in the 3G area. So, When I complaint the problem to the Nokia Service Centre then they told me that Nokia N73-5 RM-132 doesn't support 3G. I got disgusted and started cursing Nokia for completely hiding the fact that N73-5 (RM-132) doesnt support 3G. But your help comes with a great relief to me and I successfully converted my phone to RM-133 and it is really superb. I have my nokia firmware with RM-133 V4.0839.42.2.1. This is the latest firmware and also posses Mobile TV and your camera quality will also increase and this firmware unlock the true potential of your Nokia N73. This firmware you will get free in the following website :

By updating firmware to RM-133 doesn't make N73-5 a 3G enabled phone. It will just show you the option of GSM,UMTS and Dual but when you try to set the Dual or UMTS mode then the phone will restart and come back to GSM mode even in 3g area. I have experienced that.
