Tried backing up a few minutes ago and PC Suite (1.0) says something about an error - try again. Closed PS Suite and tried again - same error message. Restarted PC (XP) and it didn't help.
Any ideas how to work around this?
I don't want to upgrade to 1.1 because with 1.0 it lists the actual file names and saves the files as they are on the phone. With 1.1 (or is it 1.01 - not too sure...?) it saves the files in numbered filenames with a list in a specific file (I opened it with Notepad).

You could always try uninstalling PC Suite, deleting all the files in C:\Nokia
i.e. your previous backups
And installing again, this sometimes solves the problem.
