I don't see any major difference from having a dedicated phone with GPS or a dedicated GPS with phone features. Seems kinda redundant.

You would have to ask yourself, which would you use more, the phone or the GPS. For me, I use the phone so much more because I know the area that I live in particularily well. If I was using the GPS that usually means I'm long distance and wouldn't want to answer a call and incur long distant rates.

I would still choose, and will continue to use, my Nokia N95 over this newer device.

Thanks for that info though, it's interesting non-the-less!:icon14:

I entirely agree with you waxup, in fact thats what I said about the Tomtom phone (a thread on pocketgpsworld I think). I choose the phone first, GPS after.

In fact, by choosing the phone I have the choice of at least 6 Satnav programs, and thats not including any of the over the air ones. Surely your limiting yourself by choosing a one program only device.

Besides, theres nothing wrong with Garmin on my phone at the present. What if I dont want a large touch screen phone? What if I want a better camera? What if I want S60, etc etc?

I think Garmin are going along the right lines, Im sure theres a market for it, and as long as they continue to support and develop mobile XT, everyones a winner.

On that note, I sincerly hope Tomtom is losing a shedload of money by not supporting mobile devices anymore.

Nice find that. Difficult to say what the real culprit is though, and you can bet your boxers Tomtom wouldnt own up to it being mobile devices if that was the case.

Still, maybe it will make them pull their finger out.
