Google Maps

It has come to my attention that the version of Google Maps has been updated for the 9300/9500 (Series 80).

It is now version 2.1.

Observations:

It starts slower, but seems to run smoother/faster than before.

Also it has fewer commands on the menu (brought up by pressing the CB1 button), but seems to do most everything that the older version (I was running version 1.9) did and more.

I especially like the interactive animated directions and the view screen of all directions.

There is one new feature that I read about on the Internet that I haven't seem to have found in this version (yet). Supposedly you can press "0" and the program will use GPRS tower locations to give your approximate location on a map.

I had heard of programs that did this, but they were offered all in Europe and didn't work in the U.S.

Has anyone in the U.S. been able to get this feature (GPRS general location reporting) to work yet?

ps. By the way, I also used to have Mobile Google Maps (MGMap) on my 9300 besides the regular Google Maps, but after a quick feature and speed comparison (the previous Mobile version seemed quicker than version 1.9), I now have uninstalled MGMap as it is no longer faster.

Do you have a link for Google Maps S80 as I cannot find it on the Google web site and Google will not allow me to enter my Irish phone number to download to the phone.

Many thanks,
Martin

It's really pretty simple, but the only way that you can obtain it that I know of is using your 9300/9500.

On your phone's web browser, surf to:

http://mobile.google.com

Then select:

"Maps (Download)" from the list of Google mobile products.
