N95 VERY slow SMS browsing/reading

Hello

Does anyone know how to solve this problem:
In my SMS inbox I have cca. 2400 messages, stored on memory card.
It takes around 5s only to open inbox and then almost 8s to open SMS. First i thought it's because of old firmware or slow memory card. Now I updated firmware to V 20.0.015 and bought 4gb micro sdHC memory card.

When i move those 2400 messages to "My folders" and the inbox is empty or there is few messages in Inbox, it's working fine and smooth. But than problem happens in "my folders". It takes a looong time to open folder an than long time again to open messages as it happened in Inbox before.

It seems that problem happens when a mass of messages is stored in one folder...

Anyone had same problems and found solution? Or anyone knows how to solve that irritating problem?

Thanks in advance!

Andrej

I know it's not a solution, and I'll probably get lambasted for saying this but...

2400 messages ?!?!?!?!?!?!?! WTF ?????

Much over 1000 messages and you'll start to see a noticeable decrease in performance, the solution? Folders - store your messages in separate folders. If you are using the 'contacts' application, then remove it.

I store my messages by contact - it's a little more work to move each message, but the result is a more responsive phone.

Same thing happened to me. I had to move all my messages onto the PHONE MEMORY instead of the MEMORY CARD and now it's super fast again. You will also need to change the "Memory In Use" setting back to "Phone Memory" and you will see how big a difference it makes. :icon14:

i just delete mine every month.

unless your a business then needing that many text on your phone is madness, why don't you back them up to your PC using the nokia backup tool and just retrieve if you have to?

Exactly ! 😊

Why on earth could ANYONE need to have 2400 text messages stored on their phone ?? Forgive me for being blunt, but I just don't see the point ? I'm open to explanations 😊

Is it just me ?

I get a text, read it, save attachments if there are any, then delete. The only ones I tend to save are important service messages, and then I just back them up over PC Suite.
