The maps should be free. Its the navigation you have to pay for.

Well, I never paid anything, as long as Im concerned old Maps are now free, Im using for good 2 weeks daily non assisted GPS in my N95-2 with standard Nokia maps, bt as soon as I will install 2.0 I ned to pay for subscription!?!? 😮
It never was free, but its possible you had some free trial, and lost it when you moved to maps 2.

Well, so Im confused a lot now!
After downloading v2.0 it is asking for payment, so what ive done is ive unbranded my mobile and installed fresh Nokia Maps, together with maps downloaded from NOKIA MAP LOADER.
It is not asking for any payment and I can use is as a SatNav in my car. FREE. Can anyone explain? There was 3 day free trial on first startup of my phone, but then it dissapeard? 😮
Nokia maps never was free. You have either had a trial of it, or dont fully get what the pay option gives you. :P
Navigation is what costs money and where it talks to you. You can still access your current location and use it otherwise for free, without navigation.
Its only about 45 quid for 3 years anyway so if you use it that much, just pay for it 😊
Right, cool. So should I pay for Nokia Maps 2.0 or maybe other satnav like Garmin or TomTom then?
depends on how well you like and get on with the Nokia Maps. If I used satnav a fair bit, id pay for the 3 years, but I dont hardly ever use it! 😊
Also, youre preference may be different depending on what features you want or need from a satnav program. I recommend Bartmanekul's guide if you want to just use the internal GPS. Or if you want to use an external one via bluetooth, you can check out ones that support them 😊 Apparently the chip in the N95 isnt the latest revision or something, and the latest ones are much faster and use less power, although if youve got it on in the car, you'll probably want to use a car charger anyway, and the latest firmware for the N95 is pretty damn quick at finding my location 😃
In the end though, its all down to personal preference. Try a few out, they probably have trials too. With nokia, its the navigation you pay for and the maps are free, most other companys charge you a ton for just the maps.
it depends what you want. garmin is a one time payment of 99 bucks i think. and it also looks much better than nokia maps for sure. it functions the best IMO. i've got a free 6 month trial with nokia maps 2.0, so i've been using that next to garmin, and nokia is very good now. but i still like garmin best and think its the best gps app for the n95.
